The alarm clock seems to have gone off for many plants which are springing to life.
Peace. Sometimes silence, stillness, harmony, serenity: all sanctuary from head-piercing, rushabout insanity.
When people say “it’s raining, there’s nothing to do”, Ilfracombe is the place to be. There are lots of things to do in this seaside resort on the North Devon coast. In fact, the Ilfracombe and District Tourism Association have put them into a leaflet, which you can view online.

I am also surprised at how advanced the hydrangeas are already; their buds are quite big and I hope they don’t think that because the December snow and ice have gone that spring is just round the corner.
North Devon is a beautiful place in which to live and run a business, but it’s not always so easy to do the latter. There are a number of initiatives under way to help businesses in Ilfracombe.
In Bicclescombe Park, the East Wilder Brook is flowing fast and I was reminded of some video footage I took in July 2009. I’ve just looked it out and uploaded it.
Such a beautiful day, although the ducks in Bicclescombe Park this morning did not too lively and one stared me out . . .
The contrasting bands of light and dark and the drama in the skies were fascinating this afternoon.
